Genshin Impact for Nintendo Switch isn’t canceled, miHoYo confirms

The gacha phenomenon will release on Nintendo hardware eventually.

Anyone worrying about the Nintendo Switch port of Genshin Impact can breathe a sigh of relief, as the port is still in development. For a brief moment in time, anyway.

The fine folks over at GoNintendo briefly spoke with miHoYo about Genshin Impact‘s status on Nintendo’s portable console.

“The Switch version is still in development, and we will release more information as we progress further along,” miHoYo’s statement reads. Pretty cut and dry, that’s for sure.

It’s been a couple of years since Genshin Impact came out on Android, iOS, PS4, and PC. Since then, there’s been next to no information on the Switch version. During a 2020 interview with RPG Site, miHoYo communications head Sam Lai made similar remarks.

“The Switch version of Genshin Impact is currently under development,” Lai said. “More information regarding Switch beta testing and launch dates will be announced at a later time.”

Who knows what the hold-up is since Genshin Impact even made it on PS5 last year. Some believe that getting the game to run decently on Nintendo’s aging hardware could be the issue, but that’s pure speculation.

Genshin Impact is one of the most popular games by most quantifiable metrics. It had the most popular gaming subreddit in 2021 and earns an estimated $1 billion every six months.
