Nothing quite defines the Xbox 360 era like Gears of War. Chainsaw bayonets, underground monsters, hokey dialogue, and fantastic co-op campaigns are the first thing that comes to my mind while looking back on the series. We might get to relive it all soon too.
Journalist Nick Baker recently stated during the Xbox Era podcast that some sort of Gears of War collection could be in development (thanks, VGC).
“A while back, I said there is another Microsoft franchise that’s getting the Master Chief Collection-type treatment. I am of the belief that that is coming this year,” Baker said. “Everyone has guessed it, if you go from November 2021 to November 2022 and you look at Microsoft’s big game output, it could wind up being Halo, Gears, Forza.”
Since Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5 came out last fall, that would leave Gears of War as the likeliest candidate Baker could be hinting at. Considering how popular Halo: The Master Chief Collection is, Gears of War getting the same treatment seems like a slam dunk.

As with any rumor, don’t take this as confirmation that Gears of War will get a collection. However, it’s looking likely. There’s not been an entry in the series since Gears 5 in 2019, so it’s high time something comes out under that banner.
