Billy Napier and the Florida football team have essentially reached the midway point of their 2023 campaign, which means it is time to reflect on the first seven games played so far.
The Gators got off to a rough start on the road against the Utah Utes, looking clearly out of sync against a superior competitor that was playing a little shorthanded. They put together their first three-game winning streak since 2020 — including a pivotal win against the Tennessee Volunteers inside the Swamp.
A trip to play the Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington exposed several flaws in the squad as they ran the Gators off of Kroger Field that Saturday. A homecoming win against the Vanderbilt Commodores and a thrilling victory at the South Carolina Gamecocks later, the Orange and Blue sit at 5-2 heading into the toughest part of the schedule.
