Gators to get this 5-star 2024 QB recruit on campus at end of July

Chalk up another visitor for Florida football on its Friday Night Lights weekend coming up.

Next weekend is a huge one for the Florida football program as it prepares to host a plethora of prep prospects on campus for the annual Friday Night Lights and team cookout weekend. Among those planning to attend are student-athletes ranging from seniors to sophomores who have risen to the top of the high school crop and landed on Billy Napier’s radar.

Digging into the 2024 recruiting cycle, one of the top quarterbacks in the class, five-star [autotag]DJ Lagway[/autotag] out of Willis, Texas, announced his plans to attend the festivities in the Swamp on Tuesday via his Twitter account. The 6-foot-2-inch, 225-pound signal caller got an offer directly from Florida’s head coach after spending time in Gainesville for a spring practice session and will look to get another gander at what the Gators have to offer.

The rising junior also holds offers from fellow Southeastern Conference rivals the Texas A&M Aggies, Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, Arkansas Razorbacks, Missouri Tigers and Ole Miss Rebels. According to On3, he holds a total of 26 offers so far in his young career.

Lagaway is currently rated as a five-star recruit and ranked No. 17 overall and No. 3 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite, while the On3 consensus rates him as a four-star at Nos. 20 and 4, respectively. TAMU is out front in his recruitment according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 72.6% chance of signing him while LSU trails behind at 8.2% and the Clemson Tigers at 6.1%.
