Florida basketball stayed put at No. 33 on the Pomeroy College Basketball Rankings following a convincing, 25-point win over the Quinnipiac Bobcats a day before.
Florida’s 10-3 start marks a clear improvement under second-year head coach Todd Golden, and the metrics back that up. The Pomeroy rankings use adjusted efficiency margin — the difference between adjusted offensive efficiency and adjusted defensive efficiency — to place all teams.
In the latest update, Florida’s adjusted efficiency dropped from plus-16.92 to plus-16.66, meaning the Gators are still expected to outscore opponents by 16 points per 100 possessions. UF remains ranked 29th in adjusted offensive efficiency (114.5) but continues to drop in adjusted defensive efficiency, now ranked 60th overall (97.8).
One other metric to keep an eye on throughout the season is adjusted tempo, which is defined as possessions per 40 minutes a team gets against the average opponent. Florida scores a lot, and that’s because the offense is built to get as many opportunities as possible.
Right now, Florida ranks 14th in the country in adjusted temp at 74.6 possessions per 40 minutes. No wonder the Gators are flirting with the century mark in regulation against Quadrant 4 teams.
