Amidst a few missed chances on the part of the visiting Florida football program, the Gators were unable to pull off the upset at the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday night. Instead, Billy Napier’s squad fell, 23-17, in overtime against their Southeastern Conference rival.
As a result of the near-miss in Knoxville, the Orange and Blue were docked five spots in CBS Sports’ Week 7 re-rank for all 134 FBS schools, dropping from No. 63 last week to No. 68. That puts Florida between the No. 67 Texas State Bobcats and No. 69 Toldeo Rockets.
The Gators remain 14th in the Southeastern Conference this week out of 16 member schools, with the Auburn Tigers (No. 72) and Mississippi State Bulldogs (No. 96) ranked lower.

The Texas Longhorns remain in the top spot this week, followed by the Oregon Ducks, Ohio State Buckeyes, Penn State Nittany Lions and Miami Hurricanes who round out the top five, respectively.
The Georgia Bulldogs, Alabama Crimson Tide, Iowa State Cyclones, Clemson Tigers and Indiana Hoosiers, respectively, wrap up Week 7’s top 10 teams.
Coming up for the Gators
