The Gators basketball team will make the short drive to Tampa’s Amalie Arena to take on the Ohio Bobcats on December 14 as part of the Gator’s non-conference schedule. Ohio is coming off a 25-10 season that saw them make an exit in the second round of the College Basketball Invitational.
The news was first reported by CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein. Rothstein also reported that Missouri will take on UCF in game one of the 2022 Orange Bowl Classic. The second game of that double header will feature Florida State taking on St. John’s. This marks the first time since 2005 that the Florida Gators will not take part in the annual basketball tournament held in South Florida.
In addition to playing Ohio in Tampa, Florida’s non-conference schedule is beginning to fill up. Currently, the Gators are scheduled to participate in the Phil Knight Legacy tournament in Portland, Oregon (November 24-27) and the Jumpman Invitational in Charlotte, North Carolina (December 20-21). The Gators will also host Uconn on December 7th and will travel to Manhattan, Kansas, to play Kansas State on January 28th as part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge.
