We have reached the end of September — a time that just a couple of months ago represented the ultimate uncertainty as the nation and the world wrestled with the novel coronavirus pandemic. Nonetheless, we have nearly made it to October with the giants of college football finally emerging from their dormancy.

The biggest news on this humpday comes out of Purdue, which gave 14 students, including 13 student-athletes, until Wednesday to clear out of their residence hall rooms after being suspended, accused of having a party that violated the university’s coronavirus-era Protect Purdue Pledge, the dean of students announced Monday.

Otherwise, it is a pretty slow day as far as stories about college athletics are concerned — and that is not necessarily a bad thing.
