We have reached the end of the eighth month as well as begun a new week today, with September ushering in the Southeastern Conference’s 2020 football schedule. While we look forward to the gridiron action, there is still plenty going on in the meantime to keep our attention.

At the top of the news, LSU receiver Ja’Marr Chase is leaving before his junior season to prepare for 2021 NFL draft. CBS Sports and The Athletic both reported the news Sunday afternoon. And sprinkle in more bad news for LSU, with former standout running back Leonard Fournette getting released by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

USA TODAY Sports published a nifty data-packed article taking a look at how COVID-19 case rates jumped in all Power Five college football conferences last week. A minority of schools drove big increases in all the conferences.
