Gators host pair of blue-chip prospects in the Swamp on Tuesday

Billy Napier and Co. are not resting on their laurels after a smashingly successful weekend of recruiting.

Billy Napier and the Florida football program continue to grind away on the recruiting trail this week following a trio of successful weekends hosting official visits from the top recruits from around the nation. On Tuesday, the Gators are expected to host another pair of highly-coveted prep prospects both in the 2024 and 2025 cycles, according to 247Sports’ Blake Alderman.

First off is four-star athlete [autotag]Jameer Grimsley[/autotag] out of Tampa (Florida) Catholic in the 2024 class, who traveled to Gainesville for an unofficial visit following five OVs in June. Florida extended an offer to the 6-foot-3-inch, 185-pound projected defensive back in March, after which he paid a visit to the Swamp in April while also having the Orange and Blue among his top eight preferred destinations.

Grimsley is ranked No. 231 overall and No. 18 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 199 and 22, respectively. The Florida State Seminoles currently hold the lead in On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine with an 18.6% chance of landing him, followed by the Alabama Crimson Tide (16.3%), Penn State Nittany Lions (14.0%) and North Carolina Tar Heels (8.8%).

Also on the docket is four-star linebacker [autotag]Gavin Nix[/autotag] out of Bradenton (Florida) IMG Academy in the 2025 class, who is no stranger to Gainesville. After making multiple visits — including one for the Orange and Blue game in April — the 6-foot, 226-pound defender gets another gander at the Gators this week.

Nix is ranked No. 219 overall and No. 23 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 248 and 24, respectively. On3’s RPM has the Gators in front of the pack with a 40.8% chance of landing his commitment, while FSU (24.0%), the Miami Hurricanes (15.6%) and Central Florida Knights (4.6%) follow behind.
