Gators guard playing offseason ball in FIBA U20 EuroBasket

Gators guard Kajus Kublickas kicks off FIBA U20 EuroBasket play with Lithuania on Saturday against Iceland.

The start of the 2024-25 college basketball season is still many months away but one member of Florida’s hoops program will be busy during the offseason.

Rising sophomore guard [autotag]Kajus Kublickas[/autotag] will represent his home country of Lithuania starting on Saturday in the FIBA U20 EuroBasket event taking place in Gdynia, Poland.

Kublickas has competed internationally each of the previous two summers, helping Lithuania to an eighth-place finish in FIBA’s 2023 U20 European Championship and seventh place at the 2022 U18 European Championship.

The backcourt player from Kaunas appeared in nine games for the Gators last season, recording a total of 35 minutes of playing time during which he scored seven points while dishing out four assists, grabbing three rebounds and snatching a steal. A majority of his offensive output came at the charity stripe, where he made five if his six attempts.

Lithuania faces Iceland on Saturday, Slovenia on Sunday and Montenegro on Monday. Games will be streamed on FIBA’s YouTube channel.
