Gators get first wide receiver commitment in 2024 recruiting cycle

Score another blue-chip victory for Billy Napier and Co.!

Florida football scored its first wide receiver commitment in the 2024 recruiting cycle on Friday when four-star prospect [autotag]Izaiah Williams[/autotag] told On3’s Hayes Fawcett that he has verbally committed to the Orange and Blue.

The 6-foot, 172-pound pass-catcher out of Tampa (Florida) Carrollwood Day picked the Gators over the LSU Tigers, Tennessee Volunteers and Florida State Seminoles, citing academics as a major player in his decision.

“I choose UF for several reasons,” he told Fawcett. “First, UF is one of the top 5 public universities in the nation. Academics plays a huge role in my decision and I feel UF provides me with a premier learning experience within the state of Florida.

“Second, I really love the football program and can see the vision with Coach Napier and Coach Gonzalez and am excited to be a part of this program. I feel I can be a big aspect of this team. Lastly, Florida has been my dream school growing up and I always wanted to play in the SEC which in my opinion is the best conference. I love the atmosphere and feel at home when I’m on campus.”

Williams is ranked No. 325 overall and No. 48 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 297 and 50, respectively. Prior to his commitment, the receiver was favored for Florida at 24.7% by On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine.
