Gators get 247Sports crystal ball prediction for 4-star running back

Florida isn’t the only school with a crystal ball prediction for this coveted 2024 running back.

The Gators got some good news on the college football recruiting front on Monday when 247Sports writer Steve Wilfong posted his crystal ball prediction in favor of Florida in their pursuit of four-star running back [autotag]Kahnen Daniels[/autotag].

Wiltfong posted his projection with a medium amount of certainty after talking to a source with knowledge of the 2024 prospect’s recruitment. The 6-foot-1-inch, 185-pound ball carrier out of West Point (Mississippi) made a stop in the Swamp back on March 11 and apparently came away impressed with Billy Napier’s program.

The high school junior has experience at both quarterback and running back — hence his designation with On3 as an athlete — getting the most reps under center during the 2021-22 campaign in which he completed 36 of 69 pass attempts for 590 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions, according to Scorebooklive. He also carried the ball 94 times for 1,025 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground that year.

He still played two positions during junior season but clearly transitioned primarily to a backfield role. During the 2022-23 campaign, Daniels racked up 203 carries for 2,032 yards and 24 touchdowns while throwing just 18 passes for 10 completions, totaling 220 yards and a pair of scores.

Daniels is ranked No. 353 overall and No. 30 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 307 and 24, respectively. Along with his recent crystal ball prediction from 247Sports in favor of Florida, he also holds one for Mississippi State as well, albeit with a much higher level of certainty.

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine also has MSU ahead of the pack for Daniels’ talents with a 25% chance of landing him, followed by Ole Miss, Alabama and Southern Miss at 21.9%, 9.8% and 8.2%, respectively.
