Since last Tuesday’s COVID-19 testing update, in which the Florida football team reported six positive cases for the month of October, the program announced that there were 25 more positive cases as of Monday.
Following last week’s release, which gave data as of Oct. 12, The Independent Florida Alligator reported that the actual number of positive cases was 19.
In a press conference the following day, Athletic Director Scott Stricklin confirmed the accuracy of that report at the time, and stated that there were 21 positive cases on the team as of Wednesday.
The fact that 25 additional cases have been reported since the six that were reported last Tuesday seems to indicate that there have been more new positives since Stricklin’s press conference.
Coach Dan Mullen announced Saturday night that he had tested positive for COVID-19, the third UF coach confirmed to have tested positive.
The outbreak seems to be confined primarily within the football team. Only one of the positive tests from the month of October came from an athlete outside the program.
