Gators fall in SEC poll from 247Sports despite recent win

The narrow win over the Charlotte 49ers knocked the Gators down in this SEC rankings from 247Sports

The crew at 247Sports got together and voted this week to determine the top teams in the Southeastern Conference. The Florida Gators narrowly got away with a victory over the Charlotte 49ers last Saturday night and the voters are unimpressed.

The Gators fell down a spot in this week’s rankings, falling to No. 6, behind Texas A&M who just earned a home win, 27-10, over the Auburn Tigers last weekend.

The rival Tennessee Volunteers fell down two spots to No. 8 as they keep revealing their own flaws after taking a loss in Gainesville two weeks ago.

Future opponents — Georgia and LSU — sit at No. 1 and 2 respectively. UGA is still undefeated after pummeling the UAB Blazers, 49-21, and the LSU Tigers just took down the Arkansas Razorbacks in an impressive fashion, 31-13, to maintain its current three-game win streak.

Florida’s next opponent, the Kentucky Wildcats, is in the middle of the pack at No. 9 and is looking for a signature victory and to keep pace with a perfect season.

The Wildcats have only taken down Eastern Kentucky, Akron and Vanderbilt. Florida will be Kentucky’s first opponent to hold a winning record going into the matchup.

The Florida Gators and Kentucky Wildcats will square off at noon EDT on Saturday with the game broadcasting on ESPN.
