It was an ugly showing for Florida basketball on the road against the Ole Miss Rebels on Monday night, taking a beating to the tune of a 70-54 loss. The Gators were shorthanded two front-court players — Colin Castleton and C.J. Felder — but the performance on the floor was one of the worst offensive efforts seen in quite some time.
Coming into the game, Florida had a 100-spot advantage in the NET rankings on Ole Miss, sitting at No. 34 while its opponent was ranked No. 134. After the defeat, the Gators now find themselves 10 spots lower at No. 44 with a Quadrant 2 loss that was nearly Quadrant 3.
The Orange and Blue continue its quest to crack the NCAA Tournament bubble on Wednesday against the Tennessee Volunteers (No. 18 AP, No. 20 Coaches) on the road in Thompson Boling Arena after practicing on Tuesday in Oxford, Mississippi. Hopefully, the Gators can pull it together in their next matchup or things could start getting even uglier in Gainesville.
