The vibes are high in Gainesville after a three-game winning streak to close out the regular season for the Florida Gators, securing the first winning season of the Billy Napier era.
The Orange and Blue spent the first few months of the season toiling at the bottom of The Athletic’s SEC vibe check rankings, but a strong November has changed things around entirely. Florida ends the regular season at No. 4 in the vibe rankings, according to listmaker Seth Emerson.
“Before this season, just imagine saying that Florida went into Tallahassee, won by 20 points and ‘only’ covered the spread by a field goal,” Emerson wrote. “That’s how far Billy Napier and the Gators have come. Well, also how far the Seminoles fell, but still.”
It’s hard to deny the momentum in Gainesville, and the future is bright with DJ Lagway set to lead the Gators for at least the next two seasons. Recruiting is booming, and a bowl game win could be the perfect end to an unexpected season for Florida.
