Florida’s four-game winning streak came to an end this week, as it suffered a frustrating home loss against South Carolina on Wednesday night. The Gators were out of action on Saturday, as their game against LSU was postponed due to COVID-19 cases within the program.
Unsurprisingly, the loss knocked UF out of the AP Top 25 after it finally cracked the rankings for the first time this season at No. 22 as a result of ranked wins against Tennessee and West Virginia.
Now, after suffering its second Quadrant 3 loss of the season, Florida will hope it can avoid further damage to its resume down the home stretch of conference play. Unfortunately, when that resumes is anyone’s guess, as Florida’s Wednesday meeting with the Vols has also been postponed due to COVID-19.
Despite the bad loss, it doesn’t seem that the Gators are too far from getting back into the top 25, as it received 29 votes, fifth-best among teams on the outside looking in.
UF’s loss to South Carolina has it out of the AP rankings already after just one game played at the No. 22 spot. Here’s the full top 25.
