Gators basketball confirms invitation to ESPN Events

The Florida men’s basketball team is participating in the ESPN Events Invitational for the first time since 2016.

On Thursday, the Florida Gators confirmed a June report from 247Sports that the men’s basketball team would participate in the ESPN Events Invitational during the upcoming 2024-25 season.

Minnesota, Wake Forest and Wichita State fill out the rest of the four-team field. Broadcast information, as well as first-round matchups, will be revealed in the future.

Florida last appeared in the event in 2016 under then-second-year head coach [autotag]Mike White[/autotag]. The Gators finished third in an eight-team field following wins over Miami and Seton Hall.

The Demon Deacons are the only teams this Gators team has some experience with. Last year’s club fell to Wake Forest on the road in an ACC-SEC Challenge matchup. It’s a chance for the returning Florida players to avenge that loss.

Fans can sign up for first access to pre-sale tickets at the ESPN Events Invitational website. Tickets will go on sale later this summer.
