Garrett Wilson knows higher expectations means ‘eyes are on us’

The Jets know they now have a target in their backs this year

The New York Jets started building their foundation in 2022 with the drafting of Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall, among others. They started seeing how they can be a really good football team. Fast forward to 2023 and the addition of quarterback Aaron Rodgers and now expectations are the highest they’ve been in years for the Jets.

One person that understands that fully is Wilson, the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year.

“We know that eyes are on us,” Wilson said Wednesday. “You add someone like that (in reference to Rodgers) and we expect to compete with everyone in the league, beat everyone in the league. We expect to do that.”

The over/under is currently sitting at 9.5 wins for the Jets who are ready to make a run not only at their first AFC East title since 2002 but their first Super Bowl in over 55 years.

Coming off a 7-win season that was riddled with injuries following a promising 5-2 start, this feels like the year the Jets end what is now the longest playoff drought in the NFL and tied with the Buffalo Sabres for the longest among all four major sports. Anything short of that would be a major disappointment for the franchise after going all in this offseason.
