While most of the focus in the national media was centered around the relationship between Kyrie Irving and Celtics fans on Wednesday, the point guard’s teammates were busy trying to win a game.
In the end, it didn’t work out for the Nets, as they lost 121-110. But Brooklyn had a few strong performances.
Perhaps the most surprising note at the end of the night was Garrett Temple leading the Nets in scoring with 22 points. It was his first 20-point game of the season.
Temple was able to get to 22 points in large part because of his efficient 3-point shooting. He shot 50% from beyond the arc, knocking down six threes, tying his career-high. Temple’s performance on Wednesday was only the second time he’s made six 3-pointers in a game, and it was the first time he’s ever attempted more than 10 threes.
Theo Pinson has helped facilitate off the bench with Spencer Dinwiddie filling in for Kyrie Irving. Pinson thrived in his role on Wednesday, finishing with a career-high eight assists — doubling his previous career-high of four, which he’d reached twice in his NBA career (once instance being Monday’s win).
