Game Three Recap: Softball – No. 24 Texas A&M vs Ole Miss

Here is the Game Three recap for No. 24 Texas A&M vs Ole Miss

This was my favorite game of the series hands down. No.24 Texas A&M (29-17, 10-11 SEC) turned up the volume this game to the tune of 13 hits and 13 runs scored, and they let Ole Miss (27-21, 6-12 SEC) know who was boss. The Aggie answered back every time the Rebel tried to mount a comeback squashing their momentum for a series-clinching victory.

Texas A&M came out the gate at full speed. Koko Wooley and Amari Harper both started out with singles then Trinity Cannon hit her own single that scored Wooley. Julia Cottrill was walked then a few batters later Rylen Wiggins hit a home run over the left-field wall for a grand slam for a 5-0 lead.

They added two more insurance runs in the next inning. Star Ferguson stole third then went home which was followed up by Harper single scoring Wooley. Ole Miss was able to put two on the board in the bottom of the second, but the Aggies held a 7-2 lead early.

For the third straight inning the Aggies put points up putting even more pressure on Ole Miss. With Fergurson on first base, Harper got her first career triple hit a hit to right field that scored Star. Cannon brought her home on a single that got by third base and went up 9-2 going into the fourth inning.

The Rebels went on a rally to pull within four in the bottom of the fifth inning cutting the lead to 9-6. However, like earlier in the game the Aggies were able to respond and it came of the bat of Grace Uribe. Runners were on second and third base went Uribe hit a chopper that got over the pitchers head into center field scoring two.

The final two Texas A&M runs came in the top of the seventh off a throwing error bringing Cannon and Harper home. Ole Miss hit a pair of home runs in the final frame but it was not enough to overcome the eight run deficit. Emily Kennedy finished off the last two batters with a strikeout and ground out to end the game with a final score of 13-8.

Final Score: Aggies 13, Rebels 8 – W: Leavitt, Emily (10-6); L: Kliethermes, Makenna (6-5)

The Aggies will be in action on Tuesday, April 25th at Davis Diamond
