Another win in a fashion no one would have predicted. While game two was more of a traditional beat down resulting in a run-rule, game three saw the Aggies and Gators battling it out in a low-scoring day. So, tied 2-2 Florida hit the first batter then Austin Bost hit a single to put two runners on base. To add a little more speed on the bases Travis Chestnut came into pinch run for Ryan Targac. Chestnut did just enough dancing around on third base to get the pitcher to flinch resulting in a balk and the winning run crossing the plate due to the free advance.
Coach Schlossnagle talked about winning via balk:
“Their pitching staff does an unbelievable job of holding runners. The one guy you can run on is him, so we put Travis Chestnut in and put him on his own to run. We got in a good position and with the crowd going, it was a good ball game.”
