Game Recap: Baseball – Texas A&M vs UTRGV

The Aggies handle business in the mid-week showdown by run ruling UTRGV 11-1 at Blue Bell Park

Now is a good time in the year to start an upward trend. Bubble talk came up on the D1Baseball podcast while discussing seeding for the NCAA tournament causing us to look at the remaining schedule more closely. Texas A&M (29-20) is 3-1 since that podcast and took the series against No. 4 Florida then run-ruling UTRGV 11-1 in their midweek game.

The Aggies got off to a good start putting up two points in the first inning after back-to-back RBI from Trevor Warner and Jace LaViolette scoring Hunter Haas and Jack Moss. Then in the third inning, a dropped fly ball by the Vaqueros plated Haas and a sacrifice fly by Ryan Targac scored Moss for an 0-4 lead going into the fourth inning.

Another two runs were put on the board with a solo home run in the fourth by Haas and an infield RBI by Max Kaufer scoring the other in the fifth. UTRGV got their lone score of the game in the top of the seventh when they hit a single to center field to cut the score to 1-6.

The small victory was short lived as the first three Aggie batters were walked loading the bases then a few singles and a wild pitch put A&M up 1-9 with only one out. Jordan Thompson also hit a single to bring in the last few scores of the night run-ruling UTRGV 1-11 at Blue Bell Park

Final Score: Aggies 11, Vaqueros 1 – W: Lamkin, Justin (2-3); L: Ariza, JC (2-3)
