Game Recap: Baseball – Texas A&M vs Cal State Fullerton (NCAA Regional)

The Aggie pour it on the Cal State Fullerton Titans to advance on to play Stanford on Saturday

After a slow start and scoreless first inning, both teams put points on the board in the second, but the Aggies came away with the win and will face Stanford in the 1-0 game on Saturday.

Cal State Fullerton got the ball rolling first, putting three runs on the board in the top of the second, making Aggies fans slightly worried. Texas A&M would answer immediately in the bottom of the same inning, and with runners on second and third, freshman Max Kaufer hit a single to bring in Jordan Thompson. Hunter Haas was walked, bringing in another run, and to round out the scoring, Jack Moss hit a single, scoring two more for a 3-5 lead.

Then three straight A&M batters were walked to load the bases with no outs. Back-to-back singles by Brett Minnich and Kaufer pushed three across the plate extending the lead to 3-8. They added another three runs off a two-run homer from Ryan Targac, and a Haas double brought in the third run.

The Titans made a late rally pulling within four with one inning left, but the Aggies added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth to go up 7-12. Matt Dillard entered in the top of the ninth inning and put Cal State Fullerton away, only allowing one hit and striking three of the four batters to seal the Texas A&M victory.

Final Score: Aggies 12, Titans 7 – W: Sdao, Shane (4-1); L: Tyler Stultz (7-5)
