The Aggies lose a heartbreaker in game one to the Bulldogs. Fighting to improve their seeding in the post-season tournaments possibly, Texas A&M could not hold on to a five-run lead as Mississippi State stormed back in the second half of the game for a 10-8 win.
Mississippi State got on the board first in the second and was matched by the Aggies in the third for a 1-1 tie early. The Bulldogs added another run in the bottom of the third to retake the lead. However, it was short-lived, as the Aggies went on a small rally.
At the top of the fourth, Texas A&M did their best to take advantage of the multiple walks in the inning. After the first two batters were walked, Ryan Targac hit a home run over the right-field fence after working a 0-2 count into eight pitches at bat.

A single by Trevor Warner was sandwiched between two more walks to load the bases for Jace LaViolette, who got an RBI via a full-count walk. The last run of the inning came in the form of an infield single, scoring Jack Moss for a 6-2 Aggie lead.
Texas A&M added another run before Mississippi started a rally of its own. Down 7-2, the Bulldogs score three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to tie the game. The Aggies would answer with a solo shot by Targac for his second homer of the night. However, that one-run lead only lasted until the bottom of the ninth with two outs and two runners on base. A wild pitch allowed the tying run to cross home plate, then after getting a batters count with the winning run on third base, Mississippi State hit a two-run walk-off home run to end the game in regulation.
Final Score: Aggies 8, Bulldogs 10 – W: Dohm, Nate (6-4); L: Garica, Brandyn (2-3)Â
Walk off home run for State.
