Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup just cleared 1,000 yards receiving in a single season, the third-youngest player in franchise history to do so in a single season. At just 23 years and 262 days old, he falls short of only “Bullet” Bob Hayes who did it one day shy of his 23rd birthday and Tony Hill who did the same at 23 years and 176 days old .
Gallup did it in the third quarter of the NFC East Championship game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Dallas trails 10-6.
For a franchise with the caliber of receivers the Cowboys have had, this is no small feat as Gallup beat Hall of Fame receiver Michael Irvin and All-Pro Dez Bryant to the punch.
After an up and down rookie season that saw him and quarterback Dak Prescott struggle to get on the same page, Gallup has come into his own, hitting the milestone despite missing two games due to a knee injury.
On a day where Gallup seems the only receiver earning their keep, his catch in the third quarter put him over the top, he’s been the team’s best receiver over the last several games, including Sunday.
