The Washington Huskies may have lost the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl 35-34 to the Louisville Cardinals, but Jedd Fisch should walk away from the game knowing that his team is in good hands. Quarterback Demond Williams Jr. stole the show in El Paso in a dazzling display behind a questionable offensive line.
The true freshman rebounded very well after the first interception of his career on just his second pass of the day, which the Cardinals took for a touchdown. He completed 81 percent of his passes for 374 yards and 4 touchdowns, while also putting on an impressive display with his legs, adding 48 yards and a score on the ground.
Williams’ favorite target on the day was wide receiver Giles Jackson, who finished off his college career in the best way possible. He hauled in 11 catches for 161 yards and 4 touchdowns, but said after the game he would’ve traded it for the win.
“It’s cool to score, but we still lost. [Stats] doesn’t mean anything to me. But it was cool.”
Defensively, the Huskies floundered in what is expected to be defensive coordinator Steve Belichick’s final game with Washington. While senior Carson Bruener thrived, posting 11 tackles, the unit allowed 374 total yards, including 207 rushing yards in a lackluster effort.
As the Huskies turn their attention to the transfer portal and spring practice, here are some of the best photos from El Paso.
