The Iowa Hawkeyes had the week off. Their upcoming opponent, the Ohio State Buckeyes, had a bye week as well.
That didn’t stop five games from being played, including a top-10 showdown between No. 4 Michigan and No. 10 Penn State. While the Nittany Lions did jump in front 17-16 at the start of the second half, it was the Wolverines that finished the game with 25 unanswered points to improve to 7-0 (4-0 Big Ten) and make a national statement.
“Good game, thought the team made a real, real positive statement today. Call it a statement game? OK. Call it a statement game. And then we’re moving on to Michigan State,” Michigan head football coach Jim Harbaugh said.
Elsewhere, Illinois topped Minnesota, 26-14, Maryland took care of Indiana, 38-33, Purdue bested Nebraska, 43-37, and, in two overtimes, Jayden Reed delivered the game-winning touchdown in a 34-28 Michigan State victory over Wisconsin.
