Future Vols lead Farragut to region championship

Future UT baseball players Angus Pence and Brennon Seigler help Farragut claim region title.

A pair of future University of Tennessee baseball players helped their local high school win a region championship Wednesday night.

Senior shortstop Angus Pence, a Tennessee signee, had two hits and drove in a run to help lead Farragut High School to an 8-6 victory over Powell in the Region 2-AAA championship game at Danny T. Maples Field in Powell.

Freshman Brennon Seigler, who has also committed to play for the Volunteers, went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored for the Admirals (35-5) against the Panthers (29-4).

Farragut will host Seymour in a state sectional game Friday at 6:30 p.m. EDT at John Heatherly Field at the Ballpark in Farragut.

With a win against the Eagles, the Admirals would advance to next week’s Class AAA State Tournament in Murfreesboro and earn the opportunity to defend its 2019 state title.
