A pair of future University of Tennessee baseball players helped Farragut High School extend its playoff run on Monday.
The Admirals defeated Knoxville Central, 11-1, in the Region 2-AAA semifinals at John Heatherly Field.
Senior shortstop and UT signee Angus Pence went 2-for-3 with one RBI and scored a run to help Farragut (35-5) defeat the Bobcats (22-12).
Volunteers’ commitment and Farragut freshman Brennon Seigler went 0-for-3 and scored a run in the Admirals’ victory.
Farragut will travel to Danny T. Maples Field Wednesday to take on the Powell Panthers in the Region 2-AAA championship game.
Powell (29-3) edged Hardin Valley Academy, 2-1, in Monday’s other regional semifinal and won both the District 3-AAA regular-season title and tournament championships.
Both the Admirals and Panthers have advanced to Friday’s sectional round of the state playoffs.
