Penn State was enjoying an early week off from the college football schedule on Saturday, giving Penn State fans a chance to sit back and check out some other games around the country without the stress of worrying about the outcome of a game. One of the games Penn State fans may have been watching was Wisconsin‘s home game against Alabama, knowing the Nittany Lions will have to make a trip to Madison later this season.
As if facing Alabama was not already daunting enough, the Badgers lost starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke to an apparent significant knee injury early in the game. After being carted off just moments into the game, Van Dyke returned to the Wisconsin sideline at the start of the second half in street clothes and on crutches.

The image itself with Van Dyke on crutches and a brace on his knee is ominous for Wisconsin, for sure. No medical update has been provided at this time, but we have seen this image enough times to know Van Dyke isn’t about to come vack any time too soon, which is a shame for the Badgers.
The Miami transfer was brought to Wisconsin to provide a steady presence leading the offense under head coach Luke Fickel. Now, those plans will have to shift for an undetermined amount of time.
Penn State is scheduled to visit Wisconsin on Oct. 26, six weeks from now.
