Colorado women’s basketball senior Frida Formann is used to being in the spotlight. On Tuesday, the guard added to her list of career honors by being named a National Player of the Week by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.
Formann, a past winner, received the award after leading the Buffs to a 65-60 win over No. 14 West Virginia on Saturday. She scored 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting and connected on four of her eight 3-point attempts. TCU’s Madison Conner, USF’s Sammie Puisis, USC’s JuJu Watkins and Saint Joseph’s Laura Ziegler were the other recipients this week.
Since returning from injury on Nov. 17 against Southern, Formann has been on a scoring tear. She has scored at least 10 points in Colorado’s past 10 games, including hitting the 20-point mark twice.
The sharpshooter leads the Buffs in scoring at 15.1 points a game, a career-high for the fifth-year Coloraod guard.
