True freshman running back – Braelon Allen was an absolute revelation for a Wisconsin Badgers offense that struggled mightily early in the season.

Allen helped Wisconsin reclaim their power running identity and get the Badgers back on track after a disappointing 1-3 start. It’s truly hard to put into words just how important of a role he played in Wisconsin’s in-season turnaround.

In total, Braelon Allen carried the ball 157 times for 1,109 yards (7.1 yards per carry) – and 12 touchdowns. Which is even more impressive when you consider that Allen began the regular season fifth on the depth chart and didn’t begin receiving regular carries until October 9th against Illinois.

Perhaps the most staggering statistic from Braelon Allen’s breakout season is that he finished the regular season having recorded 730 yards AFTER contact. That’s a per carry average of 4.68 yards after contact.

Yes, you did read that correctly – over 65% of his rushing total came after contact this season – which is utterly absurd.

Braelon Allen proved to be a patient runner behind the offensive line, and that he isn’t going down without a strong second effort and delivering a few hits of his own.

Don’t be surprised to start hearing Braelon Allen’s name mentioned as a Doak Walker/Heisman candidate entering the 2022 season, he’s that special.
