The Cincinnati Bengals aren’t currently getting much from the tight end position after the 4-3 start coming out of the win over the San Francisco 49ers.
One free agent says he can help open up the offense.
Eric Ebron says he can “open the whole middle field” for Joe Burrow’s offense, which is an interesting idea given the Bengals look like a team that could use a trade before the deadline to get some help at the spot.
Signing an outside free agent might be more preferable to giving up assets in a trade, no matter how much fans might want to see the team trade to get Hayden Hurst back.
But Ebron, 30, hasn’t been on a team since 2021, when he spent two years with the Steelers and needed time after the season to get medical clearance after injuries.
Unfortunately for tight ends and fans who want to see a move made at the spot, the Bengals offense just isn’t all that interested in utilizing the position and that might not change, even with Irv Smith Jr. struggling.
