The Pittsburgh Steelers do not seem content with its current crop of inside linebackers. According to NFL reporter Adam Schefter, free-agent linebacker Kwon Alexander is having a visit with the Steelers.

Pittsburgh gutted out its inside linebacker depth chart in the offseason. They let Robert Spillane and Devin Bush sign elsewhere before releasing Myles Jack. They did replace them with Elandon Roberts and Cole Holcomb but the work continues to upgrade the depth chart.

Alexander is a nine-year veteran and was once considered one of the best all-around inside linebackers in the league. Alexander made the Pro Bowl in 2017 but that was the last big season he had as well as the last season where he was healthy for a full year. Alexander hasn’t played in more than 12 games in any season since and has played in fewer than 10 games three times.

Is Alexander an upgrade over Roberts and Holcomb? It doesn’t really feel like it but Pittsburgh took a calculated risk in cleaning house at inside linebacker.
