Frankie Luvu only Panthers player to receive 2021 All-Pro recognition

Frankie Luvu was the only Panthers player to get some love on the 2021 NFL All-Pro ballot.

If the Carolina Panthers are to receive any type of recognition for their 2021 campaign, it won’t be largely positive. But, through the ups and (many more) downs, there’s been one player—in particular—who’s provided a feel-good spark all year long.

And that man is Frankie Luvu, who was the only Panther to receive 2021 All-Pro recognition. As announced on Friday, the fourth-year linebacker earned two votes for his special teams work this past season.

After three years with the New York Jets, Luvu signed a one-year deal with the team last spring. He played in 16 games for Carolina, totaling 43 tackles (eight for a loss) and five quarterback hits.

That special teams prowess he’s now been nationally lauded for shined most back in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings. Luvu, in addition to racking up a career-high seven tackles at the time, recorded a blocked punt that was returned for a touchdown by safety Kenny Robinson. The play stood as the franchise’s first return for a score off a block since 1998.
