Frank Vogel says Alex Caruso has earned his trust at a ‘high level’

The Lakers head coach has been trusting the fan-favorite to help close out games thanks to his defense.

Los Angeles Lakers fans who are vocal online aren’t the only ones in the Lakers universe to appreciate reserve guard Alex Caruso, especially now, as the Lakers face depth issues at the guard spots due to injury and absence. Due to Rajon Rondo’s injury, as well as the absence of Avery Bradley for family reasons, the Lakers will need Caruso to deliver even more. Lakers coach Frank Vogel was asked about Caruso at Monday’s shootaround prior to their game later on Monday night against the Utah Jazz, where he said that Caruso has earned his trust “at a high level,” according to Lakers team reporter Mike Trudell.

Caruso played 24 minutes in Saturday night’s loss to the Toronto Raptors, one game after playing 27 minutes in the Lakers’ thrilling opening night win against the Los Angeles Clippers. He has continued to make an impact with his play on the defensive end, as well as his ability to lead a fast break. If Caruso starts getting his 3-pointer to go, he’ll be an even bigger asset for the Lakers moving forward.
