[autotag]Francis Ngannou[/autotag] couldn’t help but be complimentary of [autotag]Ciryl Gane[/autotag]’s performance to win the interim heavyweight title on Saturday at UFC 265.
Ngannou (16-3 MMA, 11-2 UFC) watched Gane (10-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC) overwhelm Derrick Lewis for a third-round TKO in the headlining bout at Toyota Center in Houston, giving the Frenchman the interim strap to set up a title unification contest.
It was a near flawless effort from Gane, who is a former training partner of Ngannou. The pair came up at the same gym, and now they will collide for everything on the line (via Twitter):
Impressive performance from Gane !
He's now a legit contender.
See you soon boy. When you know you know. #ufc265— Francis Ngannou (@francis_ngannou) August 8, 2021

Although Ngannou expressed frustration about the UFC’s decision to make an interim title when he was unable to compete on Saturday’s card, it seems he’s moved past it and is ready to get back in the octagon and take on his next challenge.
