Franchise tag deadline extended to Monday

The NFL has extended the franchise tag deadline to Monday at 3 p.m. CT.

The deadline was originially set for Tuesday, Mar. 10.

The most-likely candidate to get the tag from the Vikings is safety Anthony Harris, although that seems like a longshot. Everything we’ve heard from media reports is that the Vikings are willing to let Harris cash in somewhere else. The team is already ready to bring Andrew Sendejo back – the same player who they cut last offseason.

The price to franchise tag a safety in 2020 projects to be around $11.5 million. Considering Harris made just $3.095 million last season and the Vikings have just $1.3 million in cap space currently available, that’d be quite the hefty price.

Harris is 28 and this offseason is probably his only chance to cash in on a big free agent deal. I would expect him to do exactly that.
