FOX Sports to replace Urban Meyer with Bob Stoops

Fox Sports is replacing Urban Meyer, who left to become the head coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars, with former Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops.

This story originally appeared on Touchdown Wire.

FOX Sports saw Urban Meyer leave its college football panel for the Jacksonville Jaguars. A questionable choice, no doubt.

However, FOX’s replacement for the former Florida and Ohio State head coach is not to be debated: Bob Stoops.

The former Oklahoma and XFL head man will step into the vacated slot, per the New York Post Monday.

The network did not confirm the report.

Stoops coached the Dallas Renegade in the second incarnation of the XFL, which shut down due to the pandemic after five weeks.

Per The Post:

When Meyer returned to coaching, Fox Sports made a list of the most successful coaches in recent history. Of the five coaches (Nick Saban, Meyer, Stoops, Dabo Swinney, Pete Carroll), only Stoops was not going to be on a sideline in the fall.

Fox looks at its show as a collection of the biggest names with a more football-focused approach, as opposed to GameDay’s legendary atmosphere and schtick. Stoops joins Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart, Brady Quinn and host Rob Stone on the program.
