FOX Sports pulls Thom Brennaman off NFL broadcasts

FOX Sports announced Thom Brennaman will not call NFL games for it this season.

Thom Brennaman has been pulled off FOX’s NFL broadcasts, the network announced Thursday.

He served as a FOX NFL play-by-play announcer alongside analyst Chris Spielman and reporter Shannon Spake.

The move comes hours after Brennaman used a homophobic slur that was picked up on a live mic during a Cincinnati Reds broadcast Wednesday.

The veteran announcer was suspended by the MLB team after his comment. He was pulled off the second game of the doubleheader. His future with the team and FOX Sports Ohio remains uncertain.

The Reds put out a tweet Wednesday blasting Brennaman for the comment.

He attempted to apologize on air before leaving. That became clumsy when he called a home run during his apology.
