Brett Maher just can’t catch a break.
After missing four straight extra points in a row in the Dallas Cowboys victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last weekend, Maher’s first attempt Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers could have gone better. Dak Prescott and Dalton Schultz teamed up for an easy four-yard touchdown in the second quarter that put the Cowboys up 6-3. Then, when Maher went up to attempt the extra point, the 49ers blocked the kick!
Even worse for Maher, his kick was likely headed wide left after Fox showed a close up replay that had the attempt’s trajectory headed away from the uprights entirely. And all that was after Jerry Jones himself came to gave Maher a pep talk in pregame warmups!
The Brett Maher extra point try looks like it wouldn't have been close even if not for the block. đđŹ pic.twitter.com/NukUnrhXsY

The yips can be so hard to shake off once you have them and Maher seems to really be going through it now. So much so that the Cowboys opted to go for it on fourth down near midfield to save Maher from another attempt before the half.
Here’s how NFL fans reacted to Maher’s kick that would have certainly missed if it wasn’t blocked.
