The Washington Huskies and Iowa Hawkeyes won’t be the biggest conference matchup in the Big Ten in Week Seven, but the game should garner a significant amount of attention.
Following the Huskies’ 27-17 victory over Michigan, Fox will send its television crew to Iowa City for the game, which is scheduled for an 11:00 a.m. local kickoff time. This will be Washington’s inaugural appearance on the program after there was initially some question about what television network would air the game.
If the Huskies had lost to Michigan, the game would have more than likely been aired on the Big Ten Network, but now Washington will start Fox’s programming for the day, which is a more than ideal time slot for a Big Ten team.
While it might be a little early for most of Washington’s fanbase on the West Coast, television ratings suggest that this could be a major opportunity for coach Jedd Fisch’s team to establish itself in front of a national audience. Michigan vs. Minnesota in the same time slot in Week Five was the No. 5 most-watched game of the season to this point, garnering 3.59 million viewers.
Coach Kirk Ferentz’s Hawkeyes are coming off a 35-7 drubbing from the Ohio State Buckeyes and, just like the Huskies, will enter the game at 4-2.
Washington's game next Saturday at Iowa will air on FOX next Saturday at 9:00 a.m. PT — Big Noon Kickoff
