The Washington Huskies were extremely strong contenders for the services of four-star wide receiver Donovan Olugbode, the nation’s No. 11 prospect at the position and No. 69 overall player.
Going into his commitment on Friday, the product of IMG Academy was reportedly choosing between Jedd Fisch’s Huskies and Eli Drinkwitz’s Missouri Tigers. He opted to stay closer to home, as Olugbode is originally from Chicago, Illinois, and joined the Tigers, giving Drinkwitz his second-highest-ranked recruit in the 2025 class.
Before his commitment, when asked what made the Huskies one of his finalists, Olubgode was quick to point out Fisch’s “Be A Pro” selling point.
“Jedd Fisch and the relationships he has with the NFL,” Olugbode said. “Where he’s coached and the guys that he’s coached, he knows what it takes to get to the NFL. He also really understands what you need to become successful.”
Fisch and wide receivers coach Kevin Cummings did an impressive job developing a strong relationship with Olugbode and earned a commitment from his IMG running mate, Raiden Vines-Bright. However, Olugbode’s decision gave the Tigers their second-straight win over the Huskies on the recruiting trail after SMU transfer tackle Marcus Bryant took his talents to Columbia instead of Seattle.
