Four-star Washington WR target has “made up his mind”

Washington Huskies target Phillip Bell has reportedly made up his mind on his college choice.

Four-star Washington Huskies wide receiver target Phillip Bell has reportedly made up his mind on his college decision, according to On3’s Chad Simmons.

The product of Mission Viejo High School took an official visit to Seattle on May 31 to see what Jedd Fisch’s coaching staff has to offer, and wide receivers coach Kevin Cummings has done an admirable job keeping the Huskies in the race since then.

Bell is set to make his decision by the end of the month and is choosing between Georgia, Ohio State, USC, and Washington. The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder is ranked as the nation’s No. 30 receiver and No. 235 overall player by 247Sports and when you turn on his film, it’s easy to see why he’s accrued 37 offers.

“It’s rare to find a player of his age and experience who is as productive as him with release moves off the line and moves during his routes,” Huskies Wire’s Ben Glassmire said in his evaluation of Bell. “He understands how to use defenders’ leverage against them and exploit it, which he displays routinely on the goal line, where his team’s obsession with throwing fade routes to him pays off. Bell works his way open very quickly off the snap with excellent short-area quickness.”

“The strengths of his game don’t stop at release moves though, as Bell has made himself lethal after the catch weapon. The ball routinely finds him on screens and jet sweeps that allow him to make defenders miss in the open field. He displays running back-caliber vision at times as he finds creases and explodes through them.”

Although he currently has crystal ball projections to pick USC, Cummings has the Huskies heavily in the mix to land his pledge.
