Penn State is kicking off another April weekend on a good note after securing a verbal commitment from one of the top running backs in the Class of 2024. [autotag]Quinton Martin[/autotag], the top recruit in Pennsylvania, announced he will be staying close to home by committing to the Nittany Lions. Martin announced his commitment via Twitter on Friday evening.
This is a major commitment for Penn State. Martin carries the top ranking in the state from each of the recruiting services, and he is a top 50 player overall in the nation according to 247Sports (no. 48), Rivals (no. 37), and ESPN (no. 27). On3 ranks Martin as the no. 99 player overall in the nation.
Martin’s commitment continues Penn State’s recruiting efforts to keep the best prospects in the state. Recent commits that have been among the best players in the state to choose to play for Penn State have included Micah Parsons, J’ven Williams, and Nick Singleton.
In addition to Singleton and Kaytron Allen in the Class of 2022, Penn State also added four-star running back London Montgomery out of Scranton in the Class of 2023. The addition of Marton should ensure some good stability and quality depth at the running back position in the coming years.
