Allen Gant is moving on up.

The former Wolverines linebacker/safety got his coaching career moving two years ago as a graduate assistant, working with linebackers under then-coach Al Washington. He parlayed that into a position coaching defensive backs for Michigan favorite Slippery Rock.

But after one year in Pennsylvania, Gant has used that to move up the coaching ladder.

Staying at the Division II-level, Gant took to Twitter to announce that he’s received something of a promotion, now overseeing an entire defense, but this time as the defensive coordinator of West Virginia Wesleyan.

Regardless of level, it’s an impressive ascent for the former Wolverine.

Gant will have his work cut out for him, however, as West Virginia Wesleyan went 1-10 in the 2019 season.

He’ll be serving under head coach Tony Testa who is a graduate of the Wesleyan Bobcats.
