On Thursday, the Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame announced its 2024 class. That class included one former Kentucky Wildcat: Maurice Douglass.
Douglass, a safety, spent two seasons at Kentucky. He quickly became a starter, and an impact player who was known for his hard hits. For two seasons he roamed the secondary for the Cats before being drafted in the eighth round of the 1986 Draft by the Chicago Bears.
As a professional, Douglass logged 11 seasons with the Bears and the New York Giants. He was mostly a backup, but did start 16 games during his career. He intercepted a total of six passes, and returned one for a touchdown in his final season.
After his playing days ended, Douglass became a high school football coach. He coached for several years at Trotwood High School, where he had attended school.
