Former Washington TE Jack Westover signs with New England Patriots

Former Huskies TE Jack Westover has found a new home.

Former Washington Huskies tight end Jack Westover has found himself a new team. The 2023 All-Pac-12 honorable mention signed as an undrafted free agent with the Seattle Seahawks following the NFL draft but failed to make the 53-man roster after suffering an injury during the preseason.

The Seahawks placed him on injured reserve before waving him on August 30 with an injury settlement. His time in Seattle was short but valuable as teammates noted his importance in helping them learn new offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb’s offense.

The now-healthy former Husky was free to seek out a new team, and the New England Patriots came calling, signing him to their practice squad on Wednesday. He is now one of two former Washington pass catchers on the roster, joining wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk, and has the opportunity to don an iconic number for a tight end in Foxboro, Rob Gronkowski’s number 87.

He could be quickly elevated to the active roster after Jaheim Bell suffered a neck injury in practice.

In his 52 games with the Huskies, Westover recorded 87 passes for 849 yards and 6 touchdowns. He had a stellar performance in the 2023 matchup at Michigan State, tallying 4 receptions for 37 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Westover attended nearby Mount Si High School and was a walk-on for coach Chris Petersen after recruitment all but vanished following a broken collarbone two games into his senior year of high school.
